What this is
cronburg.com is a personal website run by Karl Cronburg on hardware he owns and administers. It is not a company, an employer's site, or a product. It publishes writing, research papers and slides, project notes, and some photographs and video, and it hosts a small number of personal applications that the operator wrote for his own use. Using the site means accepting these terms.
The site is currently provided without charge, as-is, with no guarantee of availability, and with no commitment to keep any particular page, application or URL online. It may go offline for maintenance, for a hardware failure, or because the operator decided to stop running it.
Who it is for
The applications reachable from this site are personal tools. They were built for the operator's own use and are shared with one member of his household; there is no public sign-up, no multi-tenant account system, and no support obligation of any kind. If a page appears to invite you to sign in, it is a page you were not intended to reach; treat it as private.
Rights in the material published here
Two different things are on this site, and the terms are deliberately different for each.
Material the operator wrote or made — the essays, project write-ups, source snippets, photographs and video authored by Karl Cronburg — may be quoted, excerpted and reshared with attribution. That is the same permission the site footer has carried for years, restated here so it is findable. It is a permission, not an assignment: copyright is retained.
Material that belongs to someone else remains theirs. Conference papers, published slides, figures and posters reproduced here are subject to the agreements signed with their publishers; quoted passages, linked source code, third party names and marks, and any external material embedded or excerpted on these pages belong to their respective owners and appear here under those owners' terms with attribution. Nothing on this site should be read as a claim of ownership over material the operator does not own, and no licence is granted here over anything that is not the operator's to license. Where an attribution is missing or wrong, that is an error to be corrected, not a claim being made.
If you hold rights in something published here and want it removed or corrected, email karl.cron.burg@gmail.com. The standing practice is to take the item down first and discuss it afterwards.
Licensed third-party datasets and corpora are not published or served from this domain. The operator's other projects are separate ventures with their own obligations, and material obtained under a licence for one of them is not redistributed here.
Your content
The public site does not accept submissions: there are no comment forms, no uploads,
and no public posting surface. The applications under /progress and
/karma accept input only from a signed-in operator, and there is no way
to become one by signing up. Consequently no licence over anything of yours is
claimed, requested or implied. If you email the operator, that email is treated as
ordinary private correspondence.
Acceptable use
Read it, link to it, quote it with attribution, and mirror it if it is useful to you. Do not attempt to reach parts of the system that are not published; do not attempt to degrade, overload or interfere with the service; and if you are crawling, crawl politely. Automated traffic that costs the operator more than it costs you may be blocked without notice.

Pages here link to external sites the operator does not control and is not responsible for. A link is a reference, not an endorsement.

Everything here is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Technical write-ups describe what worked on one person's machines at one point in time; they are not professional advice and are not guaranteed to be correct or current. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of this site or reliance on anything published here.
Changes to these terms
These terms may change. The version published at this URL is the operative one, and the date at the top of this page says when it last changed. There is no notification mechanism, because there is no subscriber list to notify.
